After five years of negotiations, Kerner bought the rights in 2002 and was developing with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies and Columbia Pictures through Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired the film rights in 2008. The shooting of this film began March 26, 2010 in New York. The release date for this film has been postponed twice, and now the film is scheduled for August 3, 2011.
